Dental treatment is becoming faster, more precise and increasingly personalised with the use of digital technologies. Bringing these advances to both patients and future dentists, Manav Rachna Dental College (MRDC) has inaugurated the Centre for Digital Dentistry and the Centre for Advanced Oral Implantology under its Department of Futuristic Dentistry, along with the Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) Centre under the Department of Prosthodontics.Â
The new facilities combine digital diagnosis, smile design, implant planning and computer-guided treatment in one integrated ecosystem, enabling students to train using contemporary technologies while making advanced dental care more accessible to the public.
Lt Gen Dr. Vimal Arora, chief clinical officer, Clove Dental, inaugurated the three centres as the chief guest. He said, “Dentistry is evolving rapidly with digital workflows, guided procedures and precision-driven treatment becoming part of everyday practice. Students must be exposed to these technologies during their education so they are ready for modern clinical practice. At the same time, patients benefit from more accurate diagnosis, better treatment planning and more predictable outcomes.”
Puneet Batra, pro vice chancellor (health sciences), Dean – school of dental sciences & school of allied health sciences, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, MRIIRS, said, ” These centres mark an important step in strengthening our academic and clinical capabilities. By integrating advanced digital technologies into teaching, research and patient care, we are creating an environment where students develop confidence through hands-on clinical learning while faculty continue to adopt evolving standards of dental practice.”
Dr. Prashant Bhalla envisioned these centres as part of Manav Rachna’s larger effort to integrate advanced technologies with interdisciplinary education, research and industry collaboration, creating an academic ecosystem where innovation drives better learning and contributes to improved healthcare for society.
The Centre for Digital Dentistry introduces digital workflows for diagnosis, treatment planning and the in-house fabrication of dental restorations using intraoral 3D scanning and CAD/CAM technology. For selected procedures, digital scans replace conventional dental impressions, enhancing patient comfort while enabling accurate treatment planning. The centre also supports digital smile planning, enabling clinicians and patients to visualise proposed treatment outcomes before restorative procedures begin. The integrated workflow supports the in-house design and fabrication of selected restorations, reducing dependence on external laboratories and enabling faster treatment completion for eligible cases.
The Centre for Advanced Oral Implantology strengthens the institution’s implant dentistry capabilities through Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), digital implant planning and guided implant surgery. By integrating three-dimensional imaging with computer-guided workflows, the centre supports accurate diagnosis and treatment planning while enabling comprehensive implant care within the institution. Depending on clinical requirements, guided implant workflows can enhance procedural precision and support more predictable treatment outcomes.
The Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) Centre provides specialised diagnosis and management for disorders affecting the temporomandibular joint and associated structures. Equipped with advanced diagnostic technologies, including surface electromyography (EMG), Joint Vibration Analysis (JVA) and digital occlusal analysis systems, the centre offers evidence-based evaluation and treatment for patients experiencing jaw pain, joint dysfunction and related conditions.
Ashish Kakar, director, Manav Rachna Centre for Dental Excellence (MRCDE), said, “Digital technologies enable clinicians to plan procedures with greater confidence and accuracy before treatment begins. This leads to more informed clinical decisions, improved workflow efficiency and a better treatment experience for patients.”

Sanjay Srivastava, vice chancellor, MRIIRS, emphasised that the new centres strengthen the University’s academic ecosystem by advancing research, interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation, while aligning dental education with the evolving needs of the profession.
The newly inaugurated centres will cater to both the general public and dental students, supporting specialised patient care alongside hands-on clinical training in contemporary dental technologies. The facilities are open to the public through the institution’s outpatient services. OPD timings are from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
